SAILING Authors&Publishing

SAILING Authors&Publishing is a private organization that was established as a society at the University of Tokyo in May 2014, with the purpose of publishing research results produced at the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, Department of Creative Informatics and Department of Information Physics and Computing, and to act as a representative for its members. The organization intends to disseminate the research results of this Laboratory and to promote the development of related research fields through various activities. SAILING Authors&Publishing plays a role publishing books and materials related to this Laboratory, like"Recognition and Behavior in Smart Systems 2014", which is a collection of the research results of the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory in the form of a book.

Purpose

Until today, the research results of the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory have been disclosed on the laboratory website, YouTube and Facebook. The laboratory receives a large number of inquiries from all over the world about the availability of publications and videos. As a consequence, it was decided to start publishing the research, both text and main videos, in printed and various digital forms. We take this opportunity to establish this organization, aimed at spreading interesting, socially accepted research results.

  • Name
  • §1 The name of the society is 'SAILING Authors&Publishing' (hereinafter referred to as 'the Society').
  • Office
  • §2 The principal office of the Society shall be located in the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, The University of Tokyo in Hongo 7-3-1, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, JAPAN.
  • Aims
  • §3 The Society shall publish and manage the copyrighted works of the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, The University of Tokyo (hereinafter referred to as 'the Laboratory').
  • Activities
  • §4 To achieve the aims enacted in §3, the Society shall
  •   a) Publish and diffuse copyrighted works written in the Laboratory(e.g. books, pamphlets and videos).
  •   b) Manage copyright and productions that are entrusted by the Laboratory.
  •   c) Carry out other activities that the Laboratory and the Society recognizes as necessary.
  • Executives
  • §5 (1) The society shall have the executive.
  •   (2) The executive of the Society shall be the Professor of the Laboratory, Masatoshi Ishikawa.
  •   (3) The executive is responsible for management of copyright of publications that the Laboratory publishes.
  • Members
  • §6 (1) The members of the Society shall be the writers or editors of the publications published in the Laboratary.
  •   (2) The members of the Society approve of the aims of the Society.
  • Fiscal year
  • §7 The fiscal year of the Society shall start April 1 and end March 31 of the following year.
  • Amendment of the Statute
  • §8 To amend these statutes, deliberations by the members shall be required.
  • Others
  • §9 Upon enforcement of the Statutes, necessary supplements shall be determined by the executive after consulting the members, and be stipulated separately.
  • Additional statutes
  • These Statutes shall come into force from May 1st, 2014.
