Sequential 3D reconstruction for a moving object based on time-series propagation using high-speed cameras

Summary

There is a growing need for the improvement of the resolution and speed for the 3D sensing of a moving object in the various fields. Although many structured-light-based methods have been proposed for the shape acquisition of a moving object, the resolution performance based on the one-shot measurement has a limitation. Also it is difficult for the direct stereo matching which searches the disparity in all pixels independently to achieve high-speed calculation.

In this research, we propose a new method to reconstruct a high-resolution shape in minimum amount of calculation. Our method introduces the time-series propagation of the reconstructed shape for the efficient calculation under the assumption that the target motion in two successive images captured by high-frame-rate stereo cameras is small.
